The Chinese General Hospital and Medical Center (CGHMC) hosted its much-anticipated Doctors’ Night 2026 on September 5 at the historic Manila Hotel, honoring the institution’s most dedicated physicians in an evening filled with recognition, music, and fellowship.
Forty-one distinguished doctors were celebrated for their decades of service, with milestones of 40 years and beyond. Their steadfast commitment has been instrumental in CGHMC’s growth, progress, and reputation as a premier center of healthcare excellence.
The highlight of the evening was the conferral of the Lifetime Achievement Award to Dr. Carlos Yap Lu, whose remarkable contributions and leadership have left an enduring legacy in the medical community. In his heartfelt speech, Dr. Lu expressed gratitude for the unwavering support of his family, especially his wife, whom he described as his “greatest blessing, strength, and constant support.”
Inspiring Messages from Leaders
In his welcome remarks, Mr. Kelly Sia, President and CEO of CGHMC, emphasized the pivotal role of physicians in shaping the hospital’s history: “Tonight is about you, our doctors. You did not simply work at this hospital; you helped build it. Buildings eventually become old, machines need to be replaced, technology becomes obsolete, but when we invest in people, that investment lasts for generations.”
Meanwhile, Chairman Antonio Tan of the Philippine Chinese Charitable Association, Inc. (PCCAI) congratulated the awardees and encouraged everyone to look forward with hope and confidence, united in building a brighter future for CGHMC.
Dr. Samuel Ang, Medical Director, praised the compassion of CGHMC’s doctors, noting that their example serves as a powerful model for future generations.

The evening was made even more memorable with performances by CGHMC doctors, showcasing talents beyond the medical field. The most anticipated highlight was the performance of celebrated artist Jose Mari Chan, who delighted the audience with timeless hits including “Beautiful Girl,” “Please Be Careful with My Heart,” and “Christmas in Our Hearts.”
Adding excitement to the night, raffle draws brought joy to attendees, with one lucky doctor taking home the major prize, a BYD Sealion 5.
