Nuclear Medicine

Department of Nuclear Medicine and Theranostics

Nuclear medicine plays a vital role in delivering state-of-the-art patient care through the use of radiopharmaceuticals that selectively evaluate and treat a wide range of conditions in the body.

The Section of Nuclear Medicine at Chinese General Hospital and Medical Center is equipped with advanced imaging modalities, including a gamma camera that can visualize function in the thyroid, heart, bones, kidneys, and other organs. Our facility also houses a dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) scanner, which serves as the gold standard for the assessment of bone density and body composition. Additionally, we provide access to a portable gamma probe that aids surgeons in the operating room during radionuclide-guided procedures.

Significantly, our section stands as a central figure in the application of theranostics – a combination of therapy and diagnostics – for the personalized management of specific benign and malignant conditions. Using conventional and novel theranostic agents that target tissues on a molecular level, we provide patients with holistic care that facilitates concurrent treatment and assessment of disease states.

As the use of molecular imaging and therapy evolves in our country and across the globe, we remain committed to excellence and the optimization of outcomes for our patients.
