Manila, Philippines, September 23, 2025 — Chinese General Hospital and Medical Center (CGHMC) proudly marks the 3rd anniversary of its Robocare Surgical Center, celebrating an extraordinary milestone of 500 robotic surgery cases in just three years.
CGHMC started its robotic surgery journey in 2022 with the acquisition of the da Vinci Si robotic surgical system. Building on this foundation, the hospital achieved a first in 2024, becoming the first hospital in the Philippines to acquire the Dual-Console da Vinci Xi Robotic Surgical System, the most advanced robotic surgery platform in the country. This groundbreaking system allows two surgeons to operate simultaneously, enhancing teamwork and efficiency across different specialties for complex cases. This pioneering step positioned CGHMC as a leader in surgical innovation—one where technology meets the human touch.
Under the leadership of the Father of Philippine Robotic Surgery, Dr. Jason Letran, who also serves at CGHMC’s Director for Clinical Operations and the Robocare Surgical Center, the robotic surgery program of the hospital has grown in leaps and bounds in a short span of time. Robot-assisted procedures in CGHMC span across general surgery, gynecology, and urology, including Robot-Assisted Kidney Transplant (RAKT). CGHMC also pioneered robotic bariatric procedures such as Robotic Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass, Robotic SADI-S (Single Anastomosis Duodenal-ileal Bypass with Sleeve Gastrectomy), and Robotic Sleeve Gastrectomy with Proximal Jejunal Bypass. Notably, urologic robotic surgery has emerged as the fastest-rising specialty in the hospital’s robotic surgery program, accounting for 40% of national robotic urologic cases in the first half of 2025 alone.

These milestones embody CGHMC’s promise of “Exceptional Care Within Reach”. What once seemed possible only in advanced centers abroad is now accessible to Filipino patients, transforming lives through smaller incisions, faster recovery, and lesser pain compared to traditional open surgery.
According to CGHMC President and CEO Kelly Sia, “At CGHMC, robotics is no longer the future, it is our present reality. Not just keeping pace with global innovation, we are setting new standards in healthcare.”
As CGHMC celebrates this 3rd anniversary, it also looks forward to the future: expanding its robotic surgery portfolio to include single port robotics, telesurgery and AI integration, training the next generation of Filipino surgeons through unique fellowship programs, and furthering its mission to bring healthcare innovation closer to Filipinos.
